An arts education forms an essential part of a curriculum that aims to cultivate the imagination and train the body. In the fine arts classes, students will be taught not only to recognize works of great art, but also to look for goodness, truth, and beauty in art. They will be challenged to see works of art through the eyes of the artist, the way we are to see the world and its beauty through God’s eyes. Students will explore the worlds of classical music and drama. They will also be instructed in creating their own art through classes taught by professional artists, expanding their artistic abilities, such as drawing and painting.
Goodness, truth, and beauty are not only found in the fine arts. The common arts display these qualities as well. When God called Adam to work the garden, he was calling him to do good work, create beauty, and pursue truth. Therefore, we recognize the importance of the common arts in addition to the fine arts. In these classes, students will learn about farming, making soap, needle working, beekeeping, and other skills. They may also be introduced to arts like woodworking, small engine repair, or plant hybridization.
Studying the arts will enrich your student’s education and understanding of the world. They will learn how others create beauty and how to do so themselves.
