Laura Cerbus
English, History
Laura (PhD, Theology; MA, Biblical Studies; BA, English Education) has over fifteen years of experience in education, including leadership of a homeschool schole co-op in Melbourne, Australia, nine years teaching in Christian schools, and homeschooling her three children. Laura’s academic work focuses on beauty and formation, an interest which has developed from her many years of teaching and ministering to children and young people in school and church communities. 

Lydia Chu
Chinese
Once a university professor in China with a PhD in Education, Lydia has now traded the lecture hall for a new gig as a part-time caregiver, occasional cleaner, and full-time student of the wild world outside academia. Alongside her husband Peter and their five kids (who keep her on her toes), Lydia is on a mission to build bridges between the U.S. and China—using language, culture, and a healthy dose of enthusiasm to inspire young hearts to love Chinese people and join God’s global adventure.

Cheryl DeGraaf 
Art and Debate
Cheryl has been homeschooling her nine children for the past 25 years. She has often taught art, as well as speech & debate, in the homeschooling community.

Rachael Dinsmore
Math
Rachael grew up in a homeschooling family, and has always had a passion for learning. During her studies at CCAC and Geneva College, she tutored her peers and led a school-sanctioned classroom for tutoring in math. Post-college Rachael has taught many years of Sunday-school classes, from ages 2-3 to middle school. Currently, she and her husband, Jonathan, are teaching the middle school Sunday school class at River Valley Reformed Church in Monaca, PA, where they attend regularly. 

Katie Copeland Donaldson
Music
Kathryn Copeland Donaldson has performed extensively in the Pittsburgh and London music landscapes. A graduate of Westminster Choir College of Rider University and Royal Academy of Music in London, she is currently a contracted singer with the Pittsburgh Camerata. An accomplished recitalist, she also sings with Pittsburgh Opera Chorus and performed roles with Pittsburgh’s Undercroft Opera and Microscopic Opera. She teaches private voice and directs choral ensembles at Geneva College and Beaver County Christian School, and is frequently sought after as a choral workshop instructor in the Pittsburgh area.

George Gregory
Bible, Greek Language
George is the pastor of Hope Community Reformed Presbyterian Church and an adjunct professor of Bible at Geneva College. He earned a BA in Christian Ministries from Geneva College, M.Div from RPTS, and is currently in doctoral studies at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. George and his wife, Danielle, were born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. They have 9 children (two sets of twins, one child in glory). George served as the Associate Pastor of the RP Church in Columbus, Indiana for 4 ½ years. After the death of his son due to significant medical complications, George took a short sabbatical from pastoral ministry. In God’s good timing, he then received a call to enter back into ministry at College Hill RP Church, specifically at the 5th Avenue building, which is now Hope Community RP Church. 

Holly Grubbs
Science
Holly has been teaching homeschool students for two decades, including her own children and many others through a local homeschool co-op.  She enjoys sharing her lifelong appreciation for the beauty and intricacy of God’s creation with her students, and is grateful for another opportunity to sow the seeds of a love for learning.  Holly is a graduate of Grove City College and completed her M.S. in Biology at The College of William and Mary.  Outside of homeschooling, she enjoys gardening, hiking, serving her church family, and volunteering at a local community STEM program.

Sara Lewyn
Math, Latin
Sara is a wife and a homeschool mom of two, and she is active with Centerpoint Community Church and Salt & Light Co-op. In college and grad school, Sara earned two degrees in mathematics, and she has taught in classrooms with learners of all ages, from preschoolers to university students. She believes that math should be fun yet challenging and that positive attitudes and good communication are key to classroom success. She loves books, movies, music, games, and just about any type of puzzle, and she would love to chat with you about math or anything else!

Donald Little
Biology
Donald is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Geneva College and serves as the President of Coram Deo. He studied biology and wildlife science at Purdue University before obtaining a PhD in Cancer Biology at the University of Michigan. Being saved by Christ at 23 gave him a transformed perspective on biology, and he is excited to share his passion with students at Coram Deo. Outside of teaching, Donald enjoys reading, birdwatching, and sharing the joys of creation with his two young sons. 

Helen Lorrah
Grammar Stage
Helen has been involved in the homeschooling community for over 24 years. She graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, IN with an undergraduate degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. For the last 14 years, she has been involved in Salt and Light Coop of Beaver County. Helen is married to Steve Lorah. She is the mother of 6 children ranging in ages 32-28. We love to hike, play board games, and visit museums. Helen is excited about teaching the children the joy of learning. 

Jill McAlister
Language Arts, History
Jill earned a B.S. in Biology from Geneva College, where she later returned to obtain her teaching certificate in Biology. She has homeschooled her three children throughout elementary and high school, beginning in 2009. Jill has been involved in and led several homeschool co-ops. In Classical Conversations, she tutored and directed for six years and acted as a Support Representative for one year. In 2023, she constructed and taught a class covering five subject areas to a group of 8th and 9th grade students. Jill has also been a homeschool evaluator since 2019.  She is excited to be working with younger students again.  

Anne Modro
Early College Program – English
Anne is an adjunct professor of English Composition, Research Writing, and Humanities at Geneva College.  She also tutors international students and has taught at Blackburn Study Center. Anne holds a B.A. in English Literature from Geneva College and an M.A. in TESOL from Cornerstone University. She has 4 children and attends Hope Community RP Church. 

Dave Mohr
Science, Math
Dave has taught science and math classes in the Greater Pittsburgh area for forty years. He has a passion for working with young people, teaching and watching them learn and mature.  Although he retired in 2020, Dave enjoys being back in the classroom teaching the subjects that he loves and continuing to use his gifts and talents to serve the Lord as he expands his kingdom in the world. Aside from teaching, Dave enjoys soccer, chess, martial arts, photography and videography, and riding his motorcycle. Dave and his wife Kathy have two daughters, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. 

Brenna Moreland
Grammar Stage
Brenna is the wife of Scott Moreland and the mom of three wonderful children. She greatly enjoys pursuing the wisdom and riches of a classical Christian education alongside them. She has been homeschooling formally for 5 years and has been a tutor in a Classical Conversations community for the past 3 years. Brenna graduated from Geneva College with a B.S. in Psychology and is a certified counselor through the Association of Biblical Counseling. As a family they enjoy reading together, taking walks, and playing board games.

Scott Moreland
Bible
Scott was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) in 2016. He has pastored in southern Indiana and is currently the pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Beaver Falls. He earned a B.A. in Christian Ministries from Geneva College (2012); M.Div from RPTS in Pittsburgh (2014); and Th.M. in historical theology from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI (2024). He and his wife, Brenna, and have three kids.

Joy Schaefer
Music
Joy has a masters degree in music education. She has experience teaching music in a variety of educational settings and regularly composes pieces for various instruments. She is a mother of five and a grandmother of two and enjoys hiking, biking,  playing with her dog, and, of course, making music!

Hannah and Matt Singletary
Common Arts
The Singletarys are homesteaders at Stone House Farm in Beaver Falls, where they care for sheep, chickens, orchard, garden, and bees. Matt is a Mechanical Engineer, and Hannah has a B.S. in Nursing.

Tania Thompson
English, Drama
Tania has been doing plays since she can remember! At Geneva College, she earned a minor in Theatre, taking classes as well as acting, directing, and working backstage for over 30 different plays. Since then she has directed students of all ages in multiple performances including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Imaginary InvalidTreasure Island, and Much Ado About Nothing in Queen Elizabeth’s Court.

Mary Treib
K-2 Language Arts
Mary has been learning alongside her students for almost two decades in public, private, and homeschool co-op settings. She earned several notable accolades in her public teaching years serving in various leadership roles, though none as precious and valuable as the time spent helping all of her children achieve Memory Master through Classical Conversations and fostering a closer relationship to the Lord through Community Bible Study. As part of a retired military family, she has taught in three different states and four different Classical Conversations communities. She is captivated by pursuing and sharing a working understanding of the trivium with homeschooling parents and the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty according to Philippians 4:8 with her students. Mary is a graduate of Geneva College and completed her M.S. in Literacy Education at Syracuse University. In the spirit of civic exuberance likening to Mrs. Winifred Banks in her supportive role to her husband, she enjoys hosting, juggling multiple school and volunteer schedules as well as community organizational involvement and responsibilities, especially related to Geneva College and Hope Community RP Church, where she attends with her family. Although her stacks of books are more acquaintances than friends, at the top of the pile is Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree, followed by Harry R. Jackson Jr. and Tony Perkins’ Personal Faith and Public Policy, and cherished still Sylvia Woods’ Teach Yourself to Play the Folk Harp.

Joel Ward
Early College Program – Rhetoric
Joel is associate professor of Communication at Geneva College. He earned his B.A. in English from Huntington University, M.A. in Rhetoric from Duquesne University, and Ph.D. in Rhetoric from Duquesne University.
